Hip obscene magazine The documentary never ends

Hip obscene is actually on going documentation of  the Underground culture that has evolved into an adventure; this is why we say the documentary never ends. Started in 1998 as an idea to create underground documentary which was actually which was set to be done by 1999. Set off as a deep desire to document and produce the continuous growth of underground culture.

Under the flag company Independently Underground we created a stock pile of more than 17 year’s worth of footage nationally and abroad consisting of more than 200 hours of footage

With this same attitude and mind state we created Hip obscene Network and Magazine to further boarding our mission. Seeing the value of documenting and holding dear to our great memories; is the genuine purpose of  Hip obscene Network and Magazine so it may be clearly represented and past down to future generations.  We dont see ourselves as just giving our audience the lastest update of trends, fads, and new releases. We see every moment as a point of history deserving to be captured in time; instead of a pasting trend fading into oblivion.

In Recent years the nostalgic feeling  of our culture has been lost; the value of keeping vintage collectible items such as albums, magazine, comics, and cards is no more. We are trying to have people embrace and have an opportunity  to began recapturing that feeling by printing the magazine and creating nostalgic items that can be saved and collected. Try to bring back that value of art and the moments of our life and culture.  Having everything on your phone; isn’t the same as having something you can pass down.

Our Goal is to keep connecting and documenting this moment of life to each other to keep allowing those monumental moments of growth and success to come to past and be remembered. All who have made unbelievable success and achievement in life such as Madonna, Micheal Jackson, Bigge, Prince, Tu Pac, Russel Simmons,  and many Others started in this same place; The Underground.  So it is our honor to keep up the underground legacy cause we echo greatness.

Sharing new experiences in the culture and treating every person with equal respect across the broad as a professional loving their craft and style and is willing to share.  Hip Obscene sees both the audience and the artist as one in making the moment possible. Maintaining both and educational and entertaining environment. Allowing all to be teachers; the Old school teaching the new School and the New School teaching the old school; Instead of a who did it better competition mind state which is never productive.

For us he Underground is an escape from the main;  as we are below radar honing on our art and preparing break out. So we generally focus on whats currently going on in the underground then reporting on already reported mainstream current events. We are an outlet for the alternative yet culturally in-tune community that wants to see what else is out there.  Giving many unknown alternatives music and content a chance; this is were the Obscene concept comes in to play.

Hip Obscene can be broken down to me Hip=culture and Obscene=Obscenity  (offensive to moral principles) not the norm; which indirectly defines the underground culture. The underground is considered the home of the outcast those who do not fit in. Although most fads and trends come form the outcast finding their own way. Such as hip hop, punk rock, house music and so on. Hip Obscene embodies this idea allowing the out cast; the underground to always have a place even when they are ran out their own home.

As DJ Jon Martin said in his article “The Underground is about doing it because it’s in your soul, not because it’s paying your bills.  Again, not that it CAN’T, but that’s not the primary purpose.”
